At Cracker Trail, we will meet or exceed the Florida Standards. The Florida Standards (sometimes referred to Common Core State Standards) provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers.

During the school year, student progress is monitored to ensure success. Some of the assessments that you may talk to your child's teacher about are:

  • Florida Standards Assessment (ELA & Math), FCAT (Science)
  • Performance Matters baseline testing
  • Weekly/Chapter/Theme/Unit tests
  • iReady

On staff, we have a reading curriculum coach, Mrs. Jahna, a STEM coach, Mrs. Brooks & a technology resource teacher, Mr. Belanger. They are available for questions and assistance by appointment. Most of their days are spent modeling and supporting instruction.

District "On Grade-Level" Indicators

Grade level indicators are provided to teachers in Highlands County to support their decision in marking students ON grade level. If a student does not meet the minimum number of indicators in each of the areas, the teacher in conjunction with the school’s progress monitoring team will determine ON/OFF grade level status. Additionally, other indicators and performance on assessments may be considered by the group to make a final decision.
