📚🐎 Tall Tales & Tiny Lumberjacks! 🌲🪓
Our 2nd grade Mustangs have been listening and learning through some larger-than-life Tall Tales! As part of their read-alouds, students have been exploring legendary characters like Pecos Bill, John Henry, and Paul Bunyan while learning about the fun and imaginative world of tall tales.
Last Friday classrooms were full of little Paul Bunyans as students & teachers dressed the part and brought this larger-than-life legend to life! 🌲📖💙
We love seeing our Mustangs make learning fun, memorable, and engaging! Way to go, 2nd grade! 🐎✨

🍪🐭 If You Give a Mouse a Cookie… What a Week! 🐭🍪
Here’s a look at what was happening in Mrs. J. Brown’s multi-grade classroom last week! Our Mustangs were learning across all areas while having a little fun along the way.
📚 ELA: We read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and practiced putting the events of the story in the correct order. We also worked on sentence writing, remembering that sentences begin with a capital letter and end with a period.
➕ Math: We learned about counting on by adding one more to a number.
🌡️ Science: We explored weather and temperature! We talked about what it might feel like outside at 90 degrees—and then stretched our thinking by imagining what 375 degrees would feel like! 🔥
💭 Social Skills: We talked about our emotions, including both the good feelings and the not-so-good feelings, and how we can recognize and manage them.
🍪 And then came the real-life learning! After reading our book, students decided they wanted to bake cookies to end the week. But there was one BIG problem… How could we bake cookies without an oven? 🤔
What a great example of learning that goes beyond the classroom—reading, math, science, social skills, problem-solving, communication, cooperation, and life skills all rolled into one delicious experience!
Way to go, Mrs. Brown’s Mustangs! 🐎💙💛

We know our Mustangs love bringing projects, classroom materials, equipment, donations, and other special items home! ❤️ Before sending something with your student, please take a moment to consider its size.
Because our school buses have limited space, large items that cannot be safely stored in a student’s backpack or otherwise secured cannot ride the bus during regular routes.
Please make sure items:
• Fit safely inside a backpack whenever possible
• Do not block the aisle or emergency exits
• Do not interfere with the driver’s view
• Do not take up seating needed by other students
If it’s too big to safely carry or store on the bus, please make another plan for getting it home.
Thank you for helping us keep our bus rides safe, comfortable, and running smoothly for every Mustang! 🐎💙

Our CTE kindergartners—our Tiny Trotters—are doing a great job so far learning the procedures and routines of lunchtime in the cafeteria! They’re getting the hang of things while enjoying some of that wonderful cafeteria food. 😋🍽️
We also have lots of extra hands on the Ranch helping our youngest Mustangs learn the ropes, and we are so thankful for everyone pitching in to support them! 💙🐎
Keep up the great work, Tiny Trotters! We’re proud of you! 👏

🐎 Thank you for feeding the herd! 💙

A huge thank you to the Highlands County Sheriff’s Department for assisting us with student pick-up and drop-off! We appreciate the extra hands and watchful eyes helping keep traffic orderly and, most importantly, keeping our students and families safe.
We are also happy to welcome Deputy Acuna back to the herd for another school year! We’re glad to have you with us, Deputy! 💙
Thank you for helping us run strong and stay safe!

A special thank you to our Safety Patrols and their sponsor, Mrs. Cook, for helping us get the school year off to a great start! We appreciate our student leaders who are already stepping up and helping our Mustang herd. 💙

A quick reminder for afternoon parent pick-up: please leave the “intersection” near the bus loop gate unobstructed while waiting in line.
As we continue working to reduce our overall parent pick-up time, keeping this area clear is especially important. 🚗➡️🚌 Cars stopped in this area can block our buses from leaving campus and slow down dismissal for everyone.
Thank you for helping us keep the line moving, get all of our students home quickly, and—most importantly—safely! We appreciate our Mustang families working together to make dismissal run smoothly. 💙

What a great start this morning! Thank you to our students and families for helping make parent drop-off run smoothly. Our herd was ready to get out of their cars and confidently walk to their classrooms on their own. We are proud of our Mustangs! 💙
A quick reminder: Please obey all traffic signs, especially the DO NOT ENTER sign in the exit lane. Following traffic signs helps keep our students, families, and staff safe.
Safety first, Mustangs! Let's keep working together to make arrival safe and smooth for everyone. 🐴

Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12, all students will walk to class on their own when they arrive at school. Don’t worry—our staff will be in place to assist students as needed! 💙
🍎 Morning Arrival Reminder:
Students arriving between 7:00–7:15 AM will report to the cafeteria.
Students arriving after 7:15 AM who do not want breakfast should walk directly to class.
Thank you for helping us keep our morning routines running smoothly. We appreciate your patience and support!
See you tomorrow, Mustangs! 🐴💙

In our continuing quest to keep our students, staff, and school as safe as possible, we have moved to a new visitor check-in system for our campus.
📋 Visitors: Please remember to bring your ID when checking in on campus. Your ID will be used to update your information in our new system and help us maintain a safe and secure learning environment for everyone.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we make this important safety improvement. Thank you for helping us keep our herd safe! 💙🐴

Thank you to all of our parents and caretakers for a great first day of dismissal! We know our car line was longer than usual, and we truly appreciate everyone’s patience as we wrapped up Day 1 of the 2026–2027 school year.
Our number one goal is to get every student home safely, and that means it will take a little extra time to load and dismiss our students—especially during these first few weeks as everyone learns the routines.
📢 A few important reminders:
🚌 At CTE, we have bus riders and parent pickup. If you’d like to avoid the longer car line, consider having your student ride the bus.
🚗 If you choose parent pickup, please stay in the car line and keep your parent pickup tag clearly displayed so our staff and Safety Patrols can easily see it.
😎 And remember, Mustangs… NO CUTS! As kids used to say back in the day, we’re all waiting our turn! 😉🐴
📞 If you have a last-minute emergency that affects your pickup plans, please call the front office. We will work with you to determine the best available option.
Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and understanding as we get our dismissal routines running smoothly. We appreciate you helping us keep the herd safe!
Great first day, Mustangs! Let’s keep running strong! 💙🐎
